As always, we show you the most exciting Steam releases of the week. Especially strategy fans will get their money’s worth this time
You are one of the few GlobalESportNews readers who are not knee-deep in Baldur’s Gate 3? Then we have fantastic news for you: Lots and lots of cool new games are coming out on Steam again this week – including a potential building game highlight.
Highlight of the week: Gord
(Genre: Strategy – Developer: Covenant – Release: August 17, 2023 (Steam)
Maybe Gord is not the most exciting construction game of the year, after all Manor Lords and Cities: Skylines 2 are still to be released – but the potential for a summer construction hit is certainly there.
Gord is a decidedly gritty building game set in a fantasy world steeped in Slavic mythology. How could it be otherwise, after all, it comes from former Witcher developers.
As the player, you take on the role of a king’s bailiff who heads north to explore and conquer wild lands. The game places great emphasis on its story and confronts you time and again with difficult decisions that have real consequences.
You’ll find out if it’s really enough to be a summer hit on Tuesday, 15 August, in our test Until then, you can take a look at our big preview and read why the story seems to be great, but the depth of the game is still lacking:
