Blizzard has taken swift action by temporarily halting and then fixing all player trading of Diablo 4 items.

In a fast turn of events, Blizzard managed to disable player trading, identify the source and implement a solution within a day. I guess things can be fixed fast if they hurts the bottom line.

The issue first came to light when a significant item and gold duplication inflation appeared with an exploit players could execute with minimal effort.

Player could initiate a trade, drop items or gold into the trade slot, forcibly close the client, and then log back in. This would result in the items or gold reappearing in the initiating player’s inventory while also remaining in the second player’s inventory. Due to the potential severe implications this could have on the game’s economy, Blizzard opted to suspend all trading activities.

In the evening of Patch 1.1.2 releasing, trade functionality was restored after some back-end fixes.

Blizzard made it clear that those who exploited this glitch will face consequences, yet no player were issued bans yet. Additionally, players who inadvertently traded and triggered the exploit will not face any repercussions.

This isn’t the first instance of such an exploit in the Diablo community. A similar issue arose during Diablo 3, hinting at the possibility of its recurrence in Diablo 4’s future.

While this issue is at the forefront, players have also highlighted other bugs they’d like Blizzard to address. One such bug involves a player losing their fee when  enchanting an item at an Occultist without receiving the enchantment.
