Team SouL’s star assaulter Harsh “Goblin” Paudwal and in-game leader (IGL) Sahil “Omega” Jakhar fell ill on 16th August. This illness posed a significant hindrance for Team SouL on the third day of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Masters Series (BGMS) Season 2 League Week 2. This day was particularly crucial for Team SouL as they had to participate in three matches.
Despite the illness, Omega displayed resilience by battling through high fever to compete on ths pivotal day. Notably, just a day before falling ill, Team SouL’s Manager Siddhant “Sid” Joshi had announced that Goblin was benched from the team. However, since then, Goblin has been absent from both BGMS Season 2 and Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 matches.
Team SouL’s Coach Amit “Amit” Dubey recently talked about Goblin’s absence from the team. He revealed that Goblin was sidelined from the team due to his lackluster performance. He added that he cannot provide a definitive answer for Goblin’s return.
Team SouL Coach Amit Opens Up About Benching Goblin
In a recent live stream, a viewer asked Amit about Goblin’s return to the playing four of Team SouL. Responding to this, he stated that there cannot be a clear answer to this question when a player is benched. “The only way to answer this question is to remove one of my players from the team and then I can tell you the playing four,” he added.
He explained that if there are five players on a team, the playing four would be decided based on performance of the players. He added that the four players that are performing well will be on the team, and the players with a lackluster performance will have to sit out. “We have previously benched Hector, Akshat and Neyo. It is true that Omega has currently played the most number in the team and that’s because no one else can take up the role of IGL,” he added.
Amit further explained that there wasn’t a direct correlation between Goblin’s presence on the team and the team’s performance. He added that it is not necessarily true that when Goblin joins, the team will perform better or even worse. “There are a lot of ifs and buts possibilities. But the thing is, the four players that are on the same page, are playing on the team,” he added.
Team SouL, once considered the best BGMI team, has been struggling to make a mark in BGMS Season 2. On the other hand, it has shown impressive performance in the BGIS 2023 so far.
