Heat Wave SF 6 is one of the biggest fighting game events over August. This US tournament is going to be a Street Fighter 6 event with some of the very best players showing up. As we’re moving past EVO and into other events in the Capcom Pro Tour, Heat Wave is one of the biggest over the next few weeks. This is an in-person offline event too, so there’s even more hype.
Heat Wave is an offline New York Street Fighter 6 major. There’s $18,000 in prize money here! Although, the tournament doesn’t feature any other big fighting games, it’s a purely Street Fighter experience. This is how the event will work and some of the key players to watch for at the tournament.
Heat Wave SF 6 Tournaments
The Heat Wave SF 6 is an offline event taking place in New York. It’s going to be running for three days, starting on Friday 25 and going through to Sunday 27. It’ll start with a wider pools round before we get to the final bracket where the very top players will face off.
It’s. a pretty familiar format for fighting game esports, but with a lot of major players showing up it’s an exciting event. Recent SF 6 tournaments have seen some pretty different players take home the win each time, so who are the contenders this time?
Players to Watch at Heat Wave SF 6
Shine
Shine is a cross-game fighting game player. In the release month tournaments of Street Fighter 6, he took some big finishes including 2nd at both DreamHack Dallas 2023 and the Intel Plays 2023 SF 6 Invitational. He crashed out a bit early at EVO, but could turn that around again at the Heat Wave SF 6 tournament.
Justakid
Justakid is one of the top active players in SF 6. He’s gotten a win at an early ICFC North America Summer event, but similarly to Shine dropped down a bit at the SF 6 EVO tournament. He’s been gaining on more recent Capcom Pro Tour events, and Shine could get him a first big win for the game.
iDom
iDom is a former Capcom Cup winner who is still at the highest level of Street Fighter with the release of 6. In this game, he’s missed out a big win so far outside of 5-6th at the Intel Plays Invitational. Shine is a chance to get one on the board.
Those are some of the top players to watch at Heat Wave SF 6. This is a fun event that’s giving us more offline matches outside of the Pro Tour. It’s definitely worth tuning in to see which of these players claims victory at Heat Wave.
