Honor of Kings is one of the biggest games worldwide. With a reported 100 million plus monthly active users, the mobile game has a huge audience in China. Last year, Tencent announced that it was bringing the title worldwide. As the global release of Honor of Kings approaches, the developer is working to make the game as accessible as possible and one of these is through the new Cloud version.
Honor of Kings Cloud unveiled as a low-storage experience for the game
The MOBA title was released back in 2015 and over the years has received several content updates and even graphical upgrades. With more than 100 heroes, its total size now stands at over 3 GB.
For many phone users, this can be a dealbreaker for playing the game. To counter the problem, Tencent has announced the Honor of Kings Cloud. Players can download this with just 30 MB of free storage.
Once you’ve downloaded the game, you just need to log in to your account and play the game. What’s happening here is Tencent is playing the games on its servers and transmitting the data to your phone, similar to a livestream. Thus, you need a really good internet connection to ensure that the latency is low.
Additionally, Tencent has made this feature completely free.
When will the game be released globally?
Honor of Kings is still in a limited release for select countries like Brazil. Tencent has said that the game is set to release globally by the end of the year so MOBA fans only have to wait for a few months to get their hands on it.
Additionally, the Honor of Kings International Championship (KIC) is set to return in 2023 for a new edition. The event features a prize pool of $10 million, making it one of the biggest mobile esports events in history.
