With Starfield, a huge space epic is coming out on Steam this week. We tell you which other releases you shouldn’t miss
The gamescom 2023 is over, but the time of the really exciting games really begins now. In the coming weeks, many highlights are waiting for you and in the Steam releases in the next few days, it starts right away with the biggest game of the year.
Highlight of the week: Starfield
(Gender: Open-World Role-Playing Game – Developer: Bethesda – Release: September 1 (Premium Edition))
We probably don’t need to explain much to you what Starfield is all about: The long-awaited sci-fi epic promises a huge open world in space. With your self-designed spaceship, you’ll explore 100 solar systems with 1,000 planets and, as usual for Bethesda, always enjoy a huge amount of freedom.
So you can follow the story or simply explore the different worlds, complete randomly generated missions, capture spaceships, collect resources, and even build bases where you research and manufacture new equipment.
We saw the first 30 minutes at gamescom 2023 and now we can’t wait for the release. But whether the rest of the game can maintain the high quality, you can read on 31 August at 18 clock in our test.
More Steam releases of the week
Monday, August 28
(Sea of Stars): A classic role-playing game in the Super Nintendo style. That is. turn-based combat, pretty 2D pixel visuals, and hopefully an exciting story.
(Untamed Tactics): The tactics game throws you into turn-based battles from an iso perspective à la XCOM, but relies on a colorful setting with animals as characters.
Tuesday, August 29
(The Matchless KungFu (Early Access)): The Chinese open-world role-playing game throws you into the familiar wuxia setting, combining historical figures with fantastical elements.
(Under the Waves): An emotional adventure game in which you explore the depths of the sea in your submarine as a diver and overcome the traumatic past of the main character.
(Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle): The survival horror game is the prequel to Daymare 1998, and just like its predecessor, is heavily inspired by the old Resident Evil titles, both in terms of gameplay and storyline.
Wednesday, August 30
(Extremely Powerful Capybaras): The vampire-survivors clone lets you fight as funny and extremely powerful Capybaras.
(Great Houses of Calderia): A global strategy game in the style of Crusader Kings that trades enormous complexity for exciting characters. However, the title couldn’t convince us in our preview so far.
Thursday, August 31
(Trine 5): The popular role-playing platformer returns and, accordingly, its biggest unique selling point: you can once again switch between three different classes, or use wizard, knight and rogue in three-way co-op at the same time.
(Total War Warhammer 3 – Shadows of Change): The DLC delivers three new commanders, but causes anger among strategy fans with a surprisingly high price even before its release.
This question may be redundant this week, but: what game are you most looking forward to? And because it will probably be Starfield: Will you be buying the expensive Premium Edition to get you started five days this Friday? Let us know in the comments!
