Tekken is gearing up for the release of a new sequel, but it’s not just the altest game that’s getting more attention. It seems like the new release has reinvigorated some parts of the series’ community. A unique format for competitive fighting game events is making a return in September 2023, the Tekken Team Battle Takedown is launching with its different approach to finding the best fighter.

The Tekken Team Takedown is using a longer series rm which is similar to some Capcom Fighters events in the past. It’s got a different format that separates it out from most fighting game esports events. The tournament will be launching a return in just a few weeks, this is how it works and what makes it different from other Tekken tournaments.

SpiraNick Launching Tekken Team Battle Takedown

SpiraNick is a Tekken player and streamer who often focuses on Tekken, and he’s hosting a new version of the Team Battle Takedown. The series is going to launch on September 12th, playing in a ft15 format. Already, players like AyoRichie are signed up to take part.

The tournament is a different style of fighter. Players compete against each other in sets, this time in a ft15 format. It isn’t the most conventional form that you’ll see at the Tekken World Tour. However, it’s definitely fun to have a bit more variety in competitive events. Fighting games are pretty much always in the same format, so it’s nice to get a change.

Tekken 7 events are taking place at quite a few major tournaments over the next few weeks. We are at the moment building up to the Tekken 8 release though! Hopefully, once the new game launches, we’ll continue to see more tournaments like the Tekken Team Battle Takedown which push the format and what we can expect to see from competitive fighting game events.
