A week after the official release on September 6, Bethesda has spoken out about the future of Starfield and releaseda first update. The company also unveiled a plan for the future with specific features to be included in upcoming patches

The first Starfield patch to version 1.7.29 is called a hotfix by the developers, it has been available for download on Steam, the Xbox dashboard and the Microsoft Store since last night.

What does the Starfield update change? The patch notes

Update 1.7.29 still brings comparatively few innovations with it, primarily some plotstoppers were repaired and worked on the performance. In addition, there should now be fewer crashes.

Performance and stability

Xbox Series X|S: Improved stability in connection with installations.

Various stability and performance improvements to reduce crashes and improve framerate.

Quests

“Money makes it possible”: Fixed an issue where player activity could result in a quest blocker.

“Into the Unknown”: Fixed an issue that could cause the quest to not appear after completing the main story.

“Shadows in Neon”: Fixed an issue where player activity could result in a quest blocker.

More patches are planned to be released regularly in the future, which will add:

a menu to calibrate the HDR settings

brightness and contrast settings

FOV slider

Nvidia DLSS support on PC

32:9 Ultrawide Monitor Support on the PC

A button to eat food directly without going through the inventory

More stability and performance improvements, also thanks to new drivers from Nvidia, AMD and Intel

Support for years to come

Not surprisingly, Bethesda plans to steadily continue supporting Starfield over the coming years. A crucial step will also be the Creation Kit announced for 2024, which will bring mod support to Xbox Series consoles as well
