Cloud9 has recently announced a significant shake-up in its VALORANT team, parting ways with four key players and their head coach, Matthew “mCe” Elmore. This decision comes after the team’s lackluster performance in major international events, including Masters Tokyo and Champions 2023.

Veteran Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro, in-game leader Dylan “runi” Cade, Mateja “qpert” Mijović, and rising star Nathan “leaf” Orf have all been released from the team. Leaf’s exit is particularly surprising, given his standout performance as the team’s duelist.

Leaf had an impressive run, boasting the second-highest average combat score, the third-highest average damage per round, and the highest clutch percentage in the Americas League. Despite these individual achievements, the team as a whole failed to make a significant impact.

Cloud9 started the year as an underdog but quickly rose to prominence, tying for first place with LOUD by the end of the regular season. However, their playoff journey was cut short after losses to Evil Geniuses and NRG Esports.

Recent reports suggest that Cloud9 is eyeing Anthony “vanity” Malaspina and Francis “OXY” Hoang to join the remaining members, Jake “jakee” Anderson and Erick “Xeppaa” Bach. This new lineup aims to achieve the success that eluded Cloud9 in the past seasons.
