G2 Esports has acquired the “The Guard” lineup in response to Riot increasing the total number of teams in the VCT Americas to 11.
G2 had tough luck with Valorant in recent years and had to implement several changes internally and serve a cooldown period before Riot let them complete again. G2 took the off-season to go through the options at hand to build another roster that will deliver in accordance with the exceptional standards of the organization.
Former “The Guard” rosters are the ones they have chosen to go with who will compete in VCT Amercias having shown promising performance in the past year which enabled G2 to put their brand’s reputation in their hands.
Michael ‘neT’ Bernet, Jonah ‘JonahP’ Pulice, Trent ‘trent’ Cairns, Jacob ‘valyn’ Batio, and coach Josh ‘JoshRT’ Lee have signed two-year deals with G2 ahead of the 2024 VCT Americas. The players will compete under the G2 banner and we will see everyone’s favourite G2 Esports back in Tier 1 Valorant after a long hiatus.
G2 Esports roster
- Michael ‘neT’ Bernet
- Jonah ‘JonahP’ Pulice
- Trent ‘trent’ Cairns
- Jacob ‘valyn’ Batio
- Josh ‘JoshRT’ Le (head coach)
The roster having failed to agree to the Team Participation Agreement of VCT Americas in time with their former employers presented an opportunity to G2 Esports which they used to field a team in the tier 1 level of Valorant. Given the expectations of G2 Esports, the new roster will walk into every tournament with all eyes on them and the burden of expectations from fans worldwide which will certainly be no easy feat.
