Everything we know about a PS5 version of CS2

Is CS2 coming to PlayStation?

Counter-Strike 2 has not been announced for PlayStation. Valve has only officially confirmed CS2 for PC, Linux and macOS. Versions for PS5, PS4 or other consoles are neither known nor announced. Accordingly, we can currently assume that CS2 will not be released for PlayStation.

Will Valve bring its games to consoles?

In the past, Valve had repeatedly released games on consoles and even Counter-Strike has console spin-offs. Here are the most important facts about it in a quick overview:

Even the first Counter-Strike received a port for the Xbox three years after release. Even with this first port, the imprecise control with the controller was criticized.

With CS:GO, Valve initially even pursued the goal of offering a cross-platform game. The multiplayer shooter was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in addition to PC.

However, the big success on the consoles failed to materialize. The PS3 version was not even released in Europe and did not receive any updates early on. In addition, CS:GO was never later released for PS4 or PS5.

The PC has always been the undisputed core platform for Counter-Strike. The shooter series was primarily optimized for control via keyboard and mouse. The only current option to play CS2 on a console is the Steam Deck.

What are the chances for a PS5 port later on?

While a PS5 port for Counter-Strike 2 is not impossible, it is currently rather unlikely. So far Valve has not announced any information about a possible console version, but at least has not ruled it out.

Further, Counter-Strike 2 is designed as an upgrade for CS:GO. Since CS:GO has not been released on any current console, a port would be all the more costly. Even the closed beta of CS2 only supports Windows PCs.

Until Valve makes an official announcement on the subject, we assume that CS2 will not get a version for PlayStation.

Now it’s your turn: Do you wish for a PlayStation port for Counter-Strike 2? Would you play CS2 on PS4 or PS5? Have you already played CS:GO on the console? If so, what was your experience? If there is no version for PlayStation, will you play CS2 on PC? Feel free to post it in the comments!
