In a sizeable window running from October 6th to October 16th, players will be able to get access to the Modern Warfare 3 beta. It’s staggered across various platforms and kicks off first on PlayStation, but for those eager to get involved, it’s all about getting access as early as possible. If you want to know how to play the Modern Warfare 3 beta, you’ll need to be prepared to part ways with at least a little money – unless you’re lucky enough to land a beta code in a giveaway, that is.

That’s because the Modern Warfare 3 beta codes are locked behind pre-order ‘paywalls’. That means that you need to pre-order the game to get access to a code – or wait for the public, open beta that’s going to take place towards the middle of October. It doesn’t have to set you back the full price of the game, though – but there are obvious bonuses waiting for those who do pre-order their copy of Modern Warfare 3.

Regardless of what platform you’re on, the easiest way to get access to the Modern Warfare 3 beta is to pre-order the full game. It doesn’t matter if you do that digitally or in person at a retailer, every route should reward you with a coveted beta code. If you’re pre-ordering digitally or on an online storefront, it won’t cost you anything immediately, as most retailers won’t charge you until a few days before the game’s release date, on November 10th.

However, if you pre-order in person, you’ll likely be charged $5 or £5 to ‘reserve’ a copy of the game. It’s expected that the standard edition of the game is going to cost around $60 / £60, so bear that in mind when you’re pre-ordering. But that isn’t the only way to get access to the Modern Warfare 3 beta.

If you’re in the UK, you can take part in a campaign hosted by EE, a mobile network provider. On the EE website, there are 150,000 Modern Warfare 3 beta codes up for grabs, and all it takes is the submission of a few personal details. If you’re lucky enough to land a code, you’ll have it emailed to you in the coming days.

Why Should You Pre-Order Modern Warfare 3?

Aside from getting the earliest access possible to the Modern Warfare 3 beta, you’ll get a week’s early access to the game’s campaign if you pre-order. It was an exclusive bonus outlined when Modern Warfare 2 was released in October 2022, and it’s enough to entice players into pre-ordering the game. It means that you’ll be able to get the campaign completed and out of the way before the full launch of the game, which takes place on November 10th.

Here’s the campaign trailer:

Not only that, but those who pre-order Modern Warfare 3 will receive exclusive content in the game when it drops. This has been the case for years in Call of Duty, and it means that you’ll have some exclusive goodies reserved only for pre-order players, which is always valuable.

Outside of that, there are and will be plenty of campaigns run by partners and sponsors that will reward players with heaps of content, double XP tokens, and much more.
