The developer 3D Realms, which is known for the Duke Nukem trilogy among other things, has been hosting an event for a few years now, where mainly new shooters are presented. Last night it was that time again, and at (Realms Deep) 2023 over 100 trailers were shown. We have rummaged through all the videos, and picked out the best 15 for you: Get ready for a lot of action!

Agent 64: Spies Never Die

The agent shooter is a tribute to the 90s and probably not coincidentally reminds of Goldeneye 007 – a real shooter classic that still inspires today. In Agent 64, you can still enjoy a story campaign in the finest retro look in 2023. The new trailer also shows the multiplayer. Here you can play in pairs or fours in co-op, or compete against each other.

Anger Foot

In Anger Foot you’ll let your anger run free, and not only shatter doors with your mighty foot, but also kick your opponents’ asses mightily. You’ll also have an arsenal of firearms at your disposal, in case the range of your legs isn’t enough. Anger Foot is developed by the studio Free Lives, which already proved its sense of … unusual humor. In addition, the developers also released the construction game Terra Nil.

Blood West

Wait a minute, isn’t there already a western shooter with supernatural or fantastical elements? In fact, both Evil West and the role-playing game Weird West rely on such a setting. Of all three games, however, Blood West is best received by its community, as the (92 percent positive Steam reviews) show. The first-person shooter has been available in Early Access since last year, but it will get a third chapter on December 5, 2023

Derelicts

The survival game Derelicts is somewhat reminiscent of The Forest with its base building, co-op mode and monsters attacking under the cover of night. However, it is set in a post-apocalyptic world where we also explore the remains of a human civilization. We even supply our shelter with electricity via water or wind turbine, and we even have a faithful shepherd dog as a companion.

Drake

Drake is more of an action role-playing game than a pure shooter, but it looks pretty good. Here we are transported to a space-western scenario, which promises a lot of exciting stories in addition to top-down shooter gameplay. We can also expect a lot of dialogue options, character values, important decisions with effects on the story and more.

Holstin

Holstin is quite an unusual game not only because of its Eastern European setting. First and foremost, it stands out that in the shooter we can smoothly switch from an isometric view to a first-person perspective at any time, as the new gameplay trailer also illustrates. What actually happens in the city in 90s Poland, plagued by strange plant growth and zombie-like monsters, you might find out if you play (the free demo

Kiborg

In this action game, you take on the role of a cybernetically enhanced resistance fighter on the prison planet Sigma. The focus of Kiborg is on the brute combat system: you thrash hordes of enemies either with your fists and melee weapons, or use an arsenal of firearms. A special feature is that there are neither save games, nor a game over: Victories and defeats in battles keep the story progressing.

Kingpin Reloaded

Another return to the 90s will be released on December 5, 2023 with the remaster of Kingpin: Life of Crime. Your task in Kingpin is to take revenge on a gangster boss, for which you must first take out his entire gang.

Besides battles, there is also a dialogue system, you can talk to many characters, do small quests and win them as allies. By the way, Viktor Antonov, who later also worked on Half Life 2 and Dishonored, is responsible for the unusual visual style of the original.

Necrofugitive

In Necrofugitive we don’t play the hero for once, but the villain of the story. We are an escaped necromancer who is being hunted by the guards. As the last survivor of our cult, we now want to take revenge. In order to stand up to our pursuers, we can take on their appearance, make corpses disappear, or become a scary demon. If you are interested in the game, you can already try a (free demo).

Phantom Fury

Phantom Fury also wants to exude the charm of a retro shooter, but looks quite chic for it in places. The game is based on Half-Life and so-called immersive sims like Dishonored. The world is supposed to feel particularly alive thanks to an incredible number of interaction options, so we can use computers or play arcade machines, for example.

Prodeus: Elder Veil

Prodeus also aims to capture the strengths of classic shooters, but at the same time promises the quality features of modern titles. In our test, this already proved to be a pretty good mix, and now the developers have announced an expansion called Elder Veil. Apparently, a grappling hook is completely new here, which we can use to overcome obstacles or pull ourselves towards enemies.

Ripout

With its merging monsters and living weapons, the co-op shooter Ripout caught our attention last year already. Now, the game is back with a new trailer that focuses on our running gun. Although the video is quite short, but soon there will be more: On October 24, 2023 namely, the Early Access for the shooter starts.

Twisted Tower

The newly announced Twisted Tower describes itself as a brutal mix of Bioshock, Willy Wonka and Disneyland. In the shooter, you’ll land in the eponymous tower of a toy manufacturer, which is teeming with creepy dolls, horror clowns and other monsters. Fortunately, you are not defenseless and can defend yourself with pistols, shotguns and rifles.

Which trailer did you like the most? Are you looking forward to any of the games, or is there nothing that suits your taste? Have you seen the show yourself, and is there another highlight for you? Feel free to post it in the comments!
