Yes, you read that right: Cyberpunk 2077 is getting another series – and this time with real actors! The film studio behind it can also be seen.

What a day for cyberpunk fans. First comes Patch 2.01 and then comes the mega-news: Soon a live-action series in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe will flicker across the screens.

The news emerges from a conversation between (CD Project Red and their investors) that took place on the afternoon of 5 October.

What do we know so far about the upcoming series?

The production studio: The project is to be created in cooperation with Anonymous Content. The studio has already made a name for itself with productions such as 13 Reasons Why or The Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio.

New Story: The series will tell a brand new story in the universe of Cyberpunk 2077. There are no exact details for this yet, however.

(More pictures are not yet available for the series, also a name has not yet been communicated.)

Unfortunately, nothing else is known about the series yet. But it will be some time before we can expect the release, the project is in an early phase. They are currently looking for a suitable screenwriter.

This is the second series to be created in cooperation with CD Projekt Red – only last year the quite successful series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was released on Netflix. It takes place a year before the events surrounding V and Johnny Silverhand’s construct. CD Projekt Red is not directly involved in the Witcher series with Henry Cavill.

If you want to know what a live-action series for Cyberpunk 2077 might look like, the cinematic trailer for the Phantom Liberty add-on with actor Idris Elba will give you an idea:

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently experiencing a second summer. With Update 2.0 and the addon Phantom Liberty, both old and new players are flocking to Night City. A second part has already been confirmed by CD Projekt Red, so the universe won’t be leaving us anytime soon.

What do you think of a live-action series in the cyberpunk 2077 universe? Are you already looking forward to it or would you rather have had a sequel to Edgerunners? And if the main game is to be made into a series, which actor should portray Johnny Silverhand? Okay, a little joke on the side. But feel free to write us your ideas in the comments, we’re curious!
