A leak could be a solid hint at a remaster of The Last of Us 2 currently in development.
The Last of Us Part 1 unfortunately didn’t get off to too good a start on PC. The technology sometimes caused Ellie and Joel more problems than their fungus-ridden adversaries. But perhaps Naughty Dog will soon start a new attempt to please fans and newcomers with the series once again.
A leak suggests that a remaster of the PS4-exclusive second part is currently in development.
What is this leak?
On the LinkedIn profile of a Naughty Dog employee, a mention of The Last of Us 2: Remastered was recently discovered, (as reported by videogameschronicle). This is the page of Mark Pajarillo, a lead outsource artist at the American developer.
He had specifically mentioned his collaboration on The Last of Us: Part One and The Last of Us 2: Remastered . In the meantime, however, the reference has already disappeared.
What does a Lead Outsource Artist do? Generally, this artistic/planning role involves guiding and coordinating the work of outside graphic artists and ultimately bringing them together to create a stylish overall look.
In Mr. Pajarillo’s case, he referred to his role in overseeing the production of all outsourced environmental graphics, weapons and interactive props on Naughty Dog’s said titles.
Does the leak make sense? Absolutely, yes. It is, as of today, only logical to assume that The Last of Us 2 will get a proper PS5 release. On top of that, the composer of the soundtrack, Gustavo Santaolalla, also spilled the beans a while back (when he reported a guest appearance on his part in the improved version of the game).
Whether this new version will be developed specifically for the PC, however, is perhaps likely, but ultimately currently pure speculation.
The trailer above gives you a glimpse of perhaps your next gaming adventure, which looks like a combination of The Last of Us and Red Dead Redemption. And after that, you’ll find plenty of content about the Joel and Ellie series and why it can be instructive to play titles of a certain ilk.
Would you be happy about a remaster of the second part of the series? Apart from some graphical details, what should be touched up again? Or do you find the idea rather nonsensical in view of its age? Which title, which might not even be that old, would you like to see remastered? Feel free to write us your views on the subject in the comments!
