The acquisition will greatly increase Microsoft’s games division. An impressive diagram shows exactly how much.

After the ruling in favour of Microsoft in the USA, the takeover of the publisher Activision-Blizzard has moved a lot closer. Although the antitrust authority FTC has announced that it will not let the issue rest, observers assume that after the important Microsoft victory in court it is only a matter of time before the deal goes through.

And that will have extreme implications for the size of Microsoft. More specifically, its gaming division, which will triple in size with the addition of numerous studios!

A chart causes astonishment

Twitter user Idle Sloth went to the trouble of finding out the workforce of each studio. He then created a diagram to show the gain for Microsoft in a striking way. See for yourself:

The acquisition adds numerous studios to the Microsoft family. These include smaller teams, such as Beenox or High Moon Studios, but of course also true giants like Blizzard, Infinity Ward, Treyarch or the mobile developer King (Candy Crush).

Even Microsoft studios like Bethesda or the Halo developers from 343 Industries look downright slim in direct comparison, not to mention smaller teams like Obsidian or Turn 10 Studios (Forza Motorsport).

What do you say to the above diagram? Were you already aware of the huge size of Activision Blizzard or did you also have to look twice to understand the dimensions of the takeover? Which of Microsoft’s many, many studios do you think has great potential for top games in the near future? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments!
