Activision has unveiled what’s coming in Season 01 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (and Warzone). It has been branded a ‘colossal content drop’ by the publisher, and it has a lot of content for sure, but most of what’s coming is yet to be revealed. At present, we know the maps, some of the modes, and some other elements surfacing in the Season 01 update that drops in December, but other aspects are missing. Oh, and we also have further confirmation that Urzikstan is coming to Warzone in December.

It’s a sizeable drop for sure, but ‘colossal’ will be validated once we have it in our hands and on our consoles and PCs. For the most part, fans are still getting to grips with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which has proven to be a divisive game for the community. It’s one of those games that you either love or hate at the moment, and it always seems like it’s edging towards the latter sentiment winning that sway.

It all has to start somewhere, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 begins with Season 01… Obviously.

In a recent blog post published by Activision, it was revealed that three new maps are coming to Modern Warfare 3 during Season 01. Various tweaks and additions are being made to Zombies, Warzone’s new map goes live, and a fan-favourite game mode is resurfacing. That’s not bad for starters – but we’re still yet to see what the in-season events will be, and we don’t know what Operators and weapons will be landing in Season 01.

Here are the new maps coming to MW3 in Season 01:

Meat

‘Become the best butcher on the block in this compact map centred around the East Bay Meats slaughterhouse.’

Greece

Prove you’re no mere mortal in this medium-sized Mediterranean-inspired Map based on a coastal town.’

Rio

Take in the bright colours, tight quarters, and elegant streets in a fight through an upscale shopping centre.’

There’s an all-new, small-form map making an appearance in Season 01 – Training Facility. It’s so small because it’s a Gunfight map. That’s right, Gunfight is returning to the Call of Duty scene in just a few weeks when the update drops, which will please some of the more hardcore players amongst us.

And What Else?

Well, COD Zombies in MW3 is getting a substantial update that’ll add more story content, allowing players to enter ‘Dark Aether Rifts’. There’s a fresh and entertaining Wonder Weapon coming to the game, as well as a host of unique acquisitions that players can grind for. Throughout all this, there will be new missions to complete, challenges to dominate, and things to unlock. For the last week or so, Zombies has been a haven for players seeking to escape the punishing multiplayer platform of MW3.

We can’t forget Call of Duty: Warzone. In December, Al Mazrah will be retired in favour of Urzikstan, which will enter the fray as a battle royale map for the first time. It’s a great map that boasts Verdansk vibes, but only time will tell how the Warzone community gets on with it. It has been confirmed that it’ll use MW3’s movement, so there’s that.
