It won’t be long until the first real addon for Age of Empires 4 hits the stores. We tell you exactly when and what you will get then

Age of Empires 4 has already received several updates and minor content additions. So many times, in fact, that we’ve already revisited the state of play twice – first in May 2022, and then again in November of last year.

The first paid addon is coming soon

Nearly a year after our review visits and about two years after the release of the base game the first paid DLC will be released on November 14 with Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend, (as Microsoft has now announced). On Steam, the software giant calls (about 15 euros as a price for it).

A few weeks ago, we had already drawn first conclusions on the basis of the initial information tidbits on the basis of shown images, which were to prove true for the most part, as has meanwhile also been shown, for example, on the basis of the trailer above.

What’s in the first paid DLC?

Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend thematically focuses on the Middle East and the conflicts between Western European and Oriental armies during the Crusades in the High Middle Ages. In addition, naval battles will be fought for the first time during an Age of Empires IV campaign.

What is the plot about?

The player takes on the role of the Muslim resistance against the Crusader invasion, following the story of well-known Muslim leaders.

The story begins with the First Crusade at the end of the 11th century, after which the Crusaders control most of the Holy Land.

Who are the enemies? In the campaign, the Muslim armies encounter the Order of the Knights Templar, the Order of St. John, the Teutons, as well as their old enemies, the Mongols.

Are you looking forward to the first proper addon for Age of Empires 4, or have you already put the title aside in favor of other games? Does the latest installment of the series stand a real chance on your computer against the thoroughly modernized version of the second part? Feel free to write us your thoughts, hopes for the expansion, and opinions on the current look of the series in the comments!
