Following the release of the LoL Worlds 2023 Anthem in collaboration with NewJeans, Riot might have another collaboration coming up with the Korean boy band ATEEZ.

ATEEZ and the new boy band for Worlds 2023

Most fans were initially convinced that ATEEZ was going to be the K-pop group working with Riot Games on the Worlds 2023 anthem, following some pictures showing the boys visiting the game company’s headquarters in Los Angeles. This speculation was later broken by the release of the Worlds song “Gods”, produced in collaboration with the rising K-pop girl group NewJeans.

That being said, it looks like the collaboration with ATEEZ will still go through after Riot Games teased fans with a new Twitter post on October 12 and a vague caption stating, “We’re working on it“.

Six champions will receive a boy band skin

On top of the teaser by Riot, there was a leak stating that six LoL champions will be receiving a boy band skin. Ezreal, Kayn, Sett, Yone, K’Sante, and Aphelios are the six characters who will be part of the new boyband. The question will now be on who will represent who in the boy band, especially considering that ATEEZ has a total of 8 members in the group. There might be a mix of people as well, as Riot is known to work with various artists throughout the years.

This boy band will be the third music group introduced to LoL, following the great success of K/DA and True Damage. The latter two were introduced respectively in 2018 and 2019, receiving positive feedback from the community.

K/DA made their debut at the League of Legends 2018 World Championship opening ceremony with their hit song “Pop Stars”. The group’s vocals were provided by an international blend of artists: Miyeon and Soyeon from the K-pop group (G)I-DLE, as well as American singers Madison Beer and Jaira Burns. The song perfectly catered to the Korean audience (as Worlds 2018 was hosted in South Korea) and esports fans globally, adding both languages and creating a perfect combination of gaming and music.

In particular, K/DA became so popular and successful that Riot brought them back for Worlds 2020, adding Lexie Liu to the group where they performed “MORE”. With Korea hosting Worlds once again this year, we might have yet another banger of a song in addition to the world anthem.
