The eShop credit will expire next week
Nintendo is closing its doors: From April 8, it will no longer be possible to play online with the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles or use other applications that require an Internet connection. Since March 27, 2023, it is no longer possible to purchase new content via the Nintendo eShop.
If you still have credit on your eShop account, you need to act quickly now.
Deadline: March 11, 2024
On March 11, 2024, i.e. Monday next week, the credit on Nintendo eShop accounts will expire.
Update: as of 4/8, online play and other functionality that uses online communication will end service for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U software. Thank you very much for your continued support of our products.

In order not to lose your credit, you must link your eShop account to your Nintendo account by then
It is not required that you own a Nintendo Switch to transfer the credit. In any case, we recommend that you check your old eShop accounts for remaining credit and link them to a Nintendo account.
How to transfer your eShop balance:
Create a Nintendo Network ID on your Nintendo 3DS or Wii U or connect an existing one to your console.
Create a Nintendo account if you don’t already have one
Connect your NNID to the Nintendo Account via a Nintendo Switch or via the browser.
Although we mourn the end of these two consoles and the Wii U was a big flop, we can’t deny that they were still great consoles. Without them, there might not be a Nintendo Switch. April 8th is only about a month away and we have no choice but to salute.
