After a bumpy start to Season 6 of Battlefield 2042, there was criticism of the Battle Pass. The developers announce adjustments.
Since October 10, 2023, Season 6 has been running in Battlefield 2042 New content includes a new map, new weapons, gadgets and lots of customisation.
As always, the Season also offers a new Battle Pass, but large parts of the community recently reacted very critically to it – so much so that DICE now has to react.
Too Much of a Grind
What is it about? In Battlefield 2042 you unlock new levels in the Battle Pass in two ways: through diligent play and through weekly challenges. The challenges in particular have been an extremely fast way to get through the Battle Pass since the very first season because a) they are easy to complete and b) they give you plenty of levels up.
What’s the problem? DICE has massively throttled the rewards of these challenges in Season 6. At the start of Season 6, there were a mere three Battle Pass points per mission, regardless of level. For context: You need 10 points for a single level of the 100 Battle Pass levels. In Season 5, there were significantly more points for each mission. (Players criticise) that they have to invest more time in unlocking the Battle Pass.

While it was still looking very good at Season 5:
Developers’ solution:Via Twitter, DICE explained that they want to make changes based on feedback.
Concretely, this means:
In week 2, all missions will drop five Battle Pass points to make up for the loss from week one.
All subsequent weekly missions will give four points. In total 36 per week.
To receive a point via experience, a number of 6,500 shall continue to be necessary at the start. The required experience per point increases as usual with the Battle Pass level.
According to the developers, these changes should mean that all players can unlock the Battle Pass with an acceptable investment of time. It is also important to note that Season 6 will last a total of 16 weeks, four weeks longer than the previous one.
Dice is trying to be responsive to community feedback. What are your thoughts on the Battle Pass for Battlefield 2042? Is it an exhausting grind or a good way to get rewards for playing? What do you think of season models in full-price games in general? Or has Battlefield already lost you anyway? Write your opinion in the comments.
