For many thousands of players, Escape from Tarkov: Arena is the best addition to the game’s ecosystem in years. It’s an all-new way to enjoy what Battlestate Games has created, embarking on a journey involving a session-based multiplayer offering, rather than the typical extraction shooter modes that the game is known for. It’s a top-tier shooter with a fledgling esports scene that has already made waves, and Battlestate is promising much more to come in 2024.

It was just weeks ago that Tarkov Arena’s first esports tournament was held, at DreamHack in Hannover. Since then, the game has continued to evolve, and tens of thousands of players have made their way into the challenging, hardcore multiplayer experience. In a recent stream, Battlestate Games’ developers sat down to explain what’s coming soon in 2024 for Escape from Tarkov: Arena. There’s a lot on the way, and players are understandably excited.

What’s Coming to Tarkov Arena in 2024?

Firstly, Battlestate Games confirmed that anyone logging into Escape from Tarkov: Arena before January 5th will receive a bonus of 1.5 million roubles in-game. This is a fund that can be used to buy and customise classes and loadouts, and it’s a stack of cash that will be vital to the success of players going forward. Tarkov Arena’s class system has divided the community a little, but for the most part, it adds something positive to grind for as you’re playing the game.

Following that, ‘BSG’ confirmed that there’s a host of new content and tweaks coming to Tarkov Arena early in 2024:

Four new maps
Three new game modes
More preset classes

There will be changes made to the matchmaking system, with BSG promising a full redesign. This will go hand-in-hand with balancing, a new Ranked Play system, and more weapons. It was also confirmed by Battlestate Games that there will be a wipe schedule introduced in Tarkov Arena going forward. This will mimic the full Escape from Tarkov experience, which ‘wipes’ periodically to reset the game for all players to ensure balancing can be applied.

Most importantly for long-term players, it was confirmed that in Q1 of 2024, BSG will unlock the ability to link Tarkov Arena accounts to full Escape from Tarkov accounts. That means that progress will be linked in some way across profiles, and playing either game will have benefits in the other. These changes are tweaks are being introduced alongside the regular updates that will be applied to Escape from Tarkov’s core extraction shooter mode.

It’s going to be a busy year for Battlestate Games.
