If you are struggling to play against Jhin in LoL, here are the best counters you can play to start winning more games.
Jhin counters in LoL – the three best choices
Jhin is one of the satisfying ADCs in League of Legends. He has incredible animations and a unique kit that allows him to stand out from the rest of the ADC pool. That said, his peculiarity can be a double-edged sword: we’ll show you how you can take advantage of that to win by picking the best Jhin counters.
If you’re fairly new to the game, check out our guide on how counter picks work in League of Legends. It will help you understand why counter picks are important, and how you need to take advantage of them to increase your win rate. Try to also understand how classes counter one another in LoL to improve your game knowledge so you always know which champions are stronger in each situtation.
Twitch – Can’t touch him
The Twitch-Jhin matchup is fine early on since the Virtuoso can take advantage of his wave-clearing and longer range to poke and harass Twitch. That said, there is a major turning point once you get past the 20-minute mark, where Twitch starts to scale and deal more damage. In the late-game teamfights, Jhin will never be able to win against Twitch in terms of damage output, and the only way he can deal some damage is by using his ultimate. If he walks to auto in the teamfight, chances are Twitch will blow him up with the ultimate.
Vayne – more mobility, more scaling
Vayne falls into a similar category to Twitch: both champions outscale Jhin. That said, the difference is that Vayne wants to get closer to Jhin and beat him with the higher DPS. Jhin will struggle given that Vayne will be able to dodge some of his skillshots and also become invisible, not allowing the enemy to trade back.
That said, you will need a great partner to survive the laning phase so choosing the best supports with Vayne is essential.
Senna – the meta counter
Senna is currently one of the strongest marksmen in the game and one of Jhin’s best League of Legends counter picks. Aside from the better scaling, Senna has a similar playstyle to Jhin and has little issue surviving against the enemy during the laning phase.
The matchup can swing a bit depending on which supports are being played alongside these two champions, but Senna will get the upper hand in most situations.
Worst Jhin counters
Caitlyn – cannot bully him
Caitlyn is usually seen as one of the counters in League of Legends to hypercarries. She can bully the enemies and permanently have lane priority during the laning phase, guaranteeing early control of objectives. This, however, does not apply against Jhin since he can neutralize her main strength and then beat her in the mid-late game teamfights with the higher range.
Aphelios – hit and run
While Aphelios does outscale Jhin later in the game, this ADC champion wants to fight in close combat and prefers to have enemies run into him so he can maximize the AoE damage and DPS. Considering Jhin is a hit-and-run champion, he will rarely allow Aphelios to fight him upfront, and even then, Jhin will have enough damage to blow Aphelios’ health bar with a crit shot.
The laning phase is also much harder to play, so it’s recommended to not play Aphelios into Jhin.
How do you counter Jhin items?
Counters in League of Legends do not just refer to the champions but also to the items built. When going up against Jhin, it’s recommended to stack armor and health to survive his auto attacks. Below is a list of items to build based on the class of champions you’re playing:
Bruisers: Death Dance, Randuin’s Omen (if crit), Plated Steelcaps
AD assassins: Guardian’s Angel
ADC champions: Guardian’s Angel,
AP champions: Zhonya’s Hourglass
Tanks: Dead Man’s Plate, Randuin’s Omen (if crit), Iceborn Gauntlet
What Champion counters Jhin?
The three best champions are Twitch, Vayne, and Senna. There are others you can consider such as Twisted Fate, Yasuo, and Tristana but they are a lot more situational and require specific supports to be played around.
Does Jhin counter Ezreal?
Jhin is technically favored against Ezreal given that he reaches the power spikes much earlier. That said, both champions are quite skill-shot based so it also depends on the two players’ mechanics and two supports. Overall, though, Jhin should have a slight advantage.
