There’s a huge tournament taking place this weekend for the latest major fighting game releases. While we’ve had some early competitions, MK 1 at East Coast Throwdown 2023 is where things go into high gear though. This is our first tournament for the brand-new MK Pro Kompetition circuit. A test of who the stand out players are as we move into the next stage for competitive Mortal Kombat.
What can we expect from MK 1 at East Coast Throwdown 2023? As the first tournament of a major circuit there’s tons of great players showing up. With developers boosting the prize pool, the stakes are high here too. This is how it’s going to work.
MK 1 at East Coast Throwdown 2023
The Mortal Kombat 1 tournament at East Coast Throwdown will kick off with the traditional pools round. That’s being played in a round of two sets of pools thanks to getting nearly 300 players signed up to take part. Then it’s on to a double elimination bracket where we’ll find the best Mortal Kombat 1 players in this early part of the game’s esports.
One of the most exciting aspects of the tournament is that this is a MK Pro Kompetition event. This is our first tournament for the new circuit, which is awarding quite a few points for the ongoing leaderboard. Between this and the $12,960 prize at the end of the tournament, it’s attracted some of the best players active in this title. Who are the players worth watching for this early round?
Top Players to Watch at MK 1 ECT
SonicFox
SonicFox is definitely a factor in the best players for MK 1 at East Coast Throwdown 2023. The multiple game EVO winner has previously won major things for MK games in the past. With a new circuit launching, the recently free agent SonicFox might be looking to get on top of the leaderboard early on.
Ninjakilla_212
Ninjakilla is coming into MK 1 at East Coast Throwdown 2023 with some impressive recent results. For MK 11, he’s won the last EVO 2023 tournament and EVO in 2021. As a two-time winner in the last game, he’s a clear player to watch in the new release.
A F0xy Grandma
A F0xy Grandma is a British fighting game esports player who has focused quite a bit on Mortal Kombat in the past. At the past two EVOs, he’s came in 4th place. While not a win, coming this close for the last two years in MK 11 has been impressive. And he might make the leap forward with the switch to Mortal Kombat 1.
Those are some of the top players to keep an eye on for MK 1 at East Coast Throwdown 2023. This is going to be one of the most exciting tournaments for the title, kicking off a brand-new circuit. Be sure to tune in and see what happens in our first Pro Kompetition event.
