Best supports to pair up with Xayah in League

Rakan – there are no better supports with Xayah than him

It’s not a surprise to see Xayah’s partner Rakan as the no. 1 choice. The two were designed by Riot to be played together. Not only do they have matching kits but they also get additional effects on some of their spells. What’s great about this duo is that they can play both aggressively and defensively, and on top of that, they get a shared recall.

Unfortunately for the bot lane duos, Xayah and Rakan won’t be getting matching recall animations anymore going forward. That said, this won’t stop them from being the strongest bot lane pairing.

Janna – the peeling support

With many engage supports on the rise in the current LoL meta, Janna is becoming more and more popular as a primary answer to them. Most importantly, she does a fantastic job at empowering Xayah’s disengage potential, providing additional crowd controls as well as healing and shields to protect her.

When playing this bot lane duo, you want to play a waiting game and bait out the enemies’ engage. With Janna’s tornado and Xayah’s feathers, you have many different tools to lock them down and fight back. During the late game teamfights, Xayah and Janna will also their own ultimates to further protect themselves.

While it’s not a super strong aggressive pairing, Xayah and Janna are one of the best when you want to play a kite back team composition.

Rell – the diving support

There are many engage supports in the meta, but the best choice for Xayah after Rakan is Rell. The mid-scope update did a wonderful job in making her relevant once again and thanks to her new kit, she offers much more reliable engages. When played alongside Xayah, Rell can provide enough crowd control and give her ADC enough time to dish out her damage. Most importantly, by grouping up most targets with her ultimate, Xayah will have an easy time throwing and recalling her own feathers, bursting down multiple enemies at once.

It’s not a strong laning bot lane duo, so avoid playing these two together if you want to play very aggressively and create a gold lead in the first minutes of the game.

Nautilus – the Rell alternative

Being one of the strongest support champions, Rell is likely going to be banned or picked by the enemy team. If you’re looking for an alternative to pairing up with Xayah, we recommend playing Nautilus since he offers similar levels of reliable engage and crowd controls. He has similar levels of all-in potential to Rell’s and a point-and-click ultimate. While Rell is stronger during the teamfights, Nautilus excels in making single-target picks and shutting down one particular target on the enemy team.

That being said, Nautilus is less tankier than Rell and he struggles a lot more when playing from behind so be careful not to make too many mistakes or the game will be hard to turn around.

Thresh – the most flexible after Rakan

When it comes to being versatile champions, there aren’t many that can beat Thresh. If it wasn’t for the Xayah-Rakan extra effects, Thresh would probably be the best support for her.

Not only can Thresh engage with his hook, but he can also help Xayah disengage in case she gets focused. With both champions’ ultimates and Thresh’s Flay (E), it becomes extremely difficult to burst the ADC down.

If Xayah is badly positioned, Thresh can save her by throwing a lantern, or using it to bring herself with him toward the enemies. Overall, Thresh is a great support to play with Xayah, giving her high chances of solo carrying games!
