If you are losing every single game against Vladimir in LoL, here are the best counters to turn your losses into wins.
Vladimir counters in LoL – the three best choices
Vladimir is a unique champion in the champion pool of League of Legends. He’s not the typical mid lane mage, and his entire kit is based on healing the damage taken by dealing damage himself. As long as he’s able to get away in the early game, he can ramp up and take over the game in the mid-late stages.
If you’re fairly new to the game, find out how counter picks work in League of Legends. It will help you understand why counter picks are important, and how you need to take advantage of them to increase your win rate. Try to also understand how classes counter one another in LoL to improve your game knowledge so you always know which champions are stronger in each situation.
Karma – the lane counter
Karma is one of the most popular mid lane picks with the new itemization: thanks to Malignance, her oppressive playstyle has become even more so as she can spam empowered Qs constantly throughout the game. And given Vladimir’s weak early game, the vampire can’t do anything against her: Karma will always have mid lane priority and the potential to kill the enemy.
Anivia – outscaling
Anivia falls into a similar category as Vladimir since both champions require time to ramp up. This gives Anivia a free lane to slowly scale and get to her item spikes without worrying about dying or bleeding advantages. Once we get to the teamfights, the ice bird will just take over with her immense AoE damage and crowd controls.
Cassiopeia – the sustain vs sustain matchup
This is a typical counter Vladimir players hate: Cassiopeia does what Vladimir does but with more DPS. As long as she can apply the poison and Twin Fangs, Cassiopeia will always win the trades. Vladimir won’t have time to charge his E and Q to fight back. Later in the game, all Cassiopeia has to worry about is not getting flanked by the enemy mid and blown up in an instant.
Worst Vladimir Counters
Yasuo – a terrible matchup
This is a free matchup for Vladimir. Yasuo is super squishy and that can be easily punished if he messes up even a tiny bit. Vladimir outscales Yasuo and will be able to just sustain his way out of the laning phase. The only small downside is that Yasuo pushes a lot faster than Vlad, meaning that lane priority can be troublesome in some matchups. As long as you can play around it, Vlad wins this.
Fizz – You ain’t killing me
A similar take happens with Fizz: you can always negate his ultimate by using your W, but it will all depend on how you’re positioned since Fizz has more ways to jump on your faces compared to Yasuo. Don’t fight him early and wait for the right moments to strike.
Counter Vladimir with the right items
Building the right items is also a great way to counter Vladimir. Consider choosing the following items to mitigate his damage and decrease his sustain in the game, depending on the class of champions you’re playing:
Bruisers/AD Champions: Executioner’s Calling,
AP Champions: Morellonomicon
Tanks – do not build Bramble vest since Vladimir won’t use autos to proc the anti-healing, just let the rest of the team build antiheal and get Kaenic Rookern
Which are the best counters into Vladimir?
Karma, Anivia, and Cassiopeia are the top counters to win against Vladimir. Veigar, Malzahar, and Aurelion Sol are also great picks thanks to their late-game scaling.
Does Vladimir counter Zed?
Vladimir is indeed a great counter to Zed: the enemy mid laner will rarely find the window to kill him and even if he ults with the Death Mark, Vladimir can always get away by using the W and heals. Eventually, Vladimir will outscale Zed in the later stages of the game.
