In honest and recognisable form, w7m has stormed to victory during the BLAST R6 Major in Atlanta, picking up a $200,000 prize and a sizeable chunk of points ahead of the Six Invitational. This win came following a dominating spree that saw w7m tear through the likes of Spacestation, BDS, Virtus, Geekay, G2 Esports, and finally, LOS. It was mere months ago that w7m lifted the trophy at the BLAST R6 Major in Copenhagen, making the Brazilian team back-to-back champions in R6S.

It has been a fantastic year thus far from w7m, as back in February, the squad came dramatically close to winning the Six Invitational. It all came down to the Grand Final against G2 Esports, with w7m ultimately falling to a second-place finish. In an act of redemption, it was w7m that eliminated G2 Esports from the running this weekend in Atlanta.

Rainbow Six Siege is undergoing countless changes at the moment, and in a couple of weeks, an all-new update will drop bringing a fresh Operator, a new map, and several sizeable amendments and new features to the game. For the esports fans, Rainbow Six Siege seems to be going from strength to strength, a claim that was evident by the outpouring of support for this BLAST R6 Major in Atlanta.

It wasn’t the most monumental event for some, though. For instance, M80 showed up for the Playoffs but was promptly eliminated after failing to secure a single win – as did SCARZ. For other teams, qualification seemed intense, and making it to the Finals quickly became a pipe dream. Despite the Playoffs placing G2 Esports and FaZe Clan at the top of the table, everything was turned up on its head during the Finals.

Out of nowhere, Brazil’s LOS decided to show up, smashing through the Play-In stage, producing a 3 – 1 record in the Playoffs, and then knocking out DarkZero, FAZe Clan, and almost w7m in the Finals. LOS hasn’t ever won anything substantial in the Rainbow Six Siege scene and was founded toward the end of 2022, so this was a huge turnaround for the organisation.

Ultimately, w7m managed to hold firm in the run-up to the Grand Final. It could be argued that all the ‘best teams’ had been extinguished before that point, but it wasn’t looking good for the squad as LOS became the frontrunner for the trophy. Fortunately, w7m started strong, securing two maps back to back, and LOS’ single-map clap-back wasn’t enough to secure a reverse sweep, leaving w7m with the trophy and the lion’s share of the $750,000 prize pool.
