We’ve only just seen the conclusion of the Capcom Cup X, but details are already emerging for our next instalment. The Capcom Cup XI, or 2024, will follow up the biggest year for the tournament to date. Now we’ve found the X’s Champion, we can start looking ahead to who will be the XI.
There’s a lot to live up to for this tournament though. What do you do after you’ve broken all records with the prize pool? We’ve recently got the first details at the Final of the Capcom Cup X. This is what we know about the new tournament and how it’ll affect things.
Capcom Cup XI Gets First Details Announced
At the conclusion of the Capcom Cup X, we got our first details for the next round of the tournament. This is going to be the 2024 Capcom Cup, resolving at around this time next year. The last Capcom Pro Tour carried a record-breaking prize pool, crossing over a million dollars for the victory. Next time, it’s going to be the same. Capcom is meeting their previous prize pool, at least to the winner of the Cup. It’s yet to be made clear if the amounts for runners-up is going up or down.
The Capcom Pro Tour is going to be running similarly to last year as a whole. It’s going to be an international competition, with events that take place across the world. The previous year’s Capcom Cup had a fair bit of online focus. We can likely still expect a decent number of these style of events this year too.
The exact qualifying tournaments are yet to be announced though. There might be some innovations with this or more events getting bumped up to qualifier status. Last year’s EVO tournament saw one player qualify, but notably the final Capcom Cup was missing quite a few of these high-ranking players. If the format is staying the same, players will have to take each of these chances to qualify very seriously to take another shot at the big prize at the end of the Capcom Cup XI.
