Clash Royale was released back in 2016 carrying on the immense success of Clash of Clans. While Clash of Clans was already a really competitive title, Clash Royale opened the door to potential tournaments and esports with its real-time card-based battles. The game quickly rose to fame and Supercell immediately capitalized by hosting big esports tournaments.
Have you watched the pros play on stage and want to participate in Clash Royale tournaments as well? Here’s everything you need to know about Clash Royale esports and on how to make it as a professional player if you have the skills.
Clash Royale League: The official roadmap to competing in the biggest stage
The Clash Royale League was first launched back in 2018 as a franchised esports tournament for different regions around the world. With only a limited number of teams allowed to compete, this made the Clash Royale esports ecosystem very inaccessible for aspiring players.
However, with low viewership and fan engagement, Supercell reverted back to an open-for-all individual-based format in 2022. Thus, official Clash Royale tournaments are now open-for-all but you need to be really good to play in them.
The Clash Royale League 2022 is currently underway. It features seven monthly seasons running from February to August. Each of these grant a Golden Ticket to the CRL World Finals 2023. Thus, the winner of each event will make it to the CRL World Finals 2023, set to be a LAN event at the end of the year.
Additionally, these monthly Clash Royale tournaments also provide Leaderboard Points. At the end of the seven seasons, the seven players with the most leaderboard points will also earn spots to the CRL World Finals 2023.
Each monthly season consists of a Path of Legends, the Monthly Qualifier, and the Monthly Final. The Path of Legends essentially means the in-game ladder. At the end of each ladder, the top 1000 players will have the chance to compete in the Monthly Qualifier.
Thus, you already need to be really good at the game to have a shot at competing in official Clash Royale tournaments. If you are an aspiring pro and still want to have a shot at competing, you can also do so through community events and custom tournaments.
How to enter Clash Royale tournaments through third-party events and custom tournaments?
Besides the official Clash Royale official esports roadmap, several community and third-party events are regularly organized. An example is the Snapdragon Mobile Open by ESL. You can check for these Clash Royale tournaments on ESL Play or Battlefy.
The last option to competing in tournaments is by making your own. If you have a group of friends or just want to challenge people form the community, here’s how you can create private tournaments:
Open Clash and click on the Menu in the top right of the main screen.
Here, you will be able to find the Private Tournaments section.
You need 10 Gems to create a private tournament. They offer no rewards, but you will be able to select the game mode, duration, level caps, and number of players in the competition.
Only players you are King Level seven or above can create private Clash Royale tournaments.
