It has been more than a month since the CDL 2024 season kicked off, and fans around the world have been desperately waiting for news of the 2024 COD Challengers season. In an uncharacteristic move, Activision Blizzard kept the lid on Challengers for longer than usual but has recently revealed the year ahead in a detailed blog post. Now that the official reveal has been published, we know what the season looks like for the players that sit one level below the Call of Duty League.

From the Challengers’ Cup series to the Challengers Open events, and from the Elite Seasons to the qualification circuits, everything has been made clear. It’s not what some were expecting, but at least it’s finally here and players can get stuck in. Last season, the Challengers scene exploded in popularity, and as time goes on, more players from the Challengers circuit are finding their way onto grand CDL stages around North America.

What Does The COD Challengers 2024 Season Look Like?

Firstly, let’s take a look at the Challengers Cups. There will be a total of eleven Challengers Cup tournaments as the year unravels, and they’ll take place in various regions around the world: Europe, APAC, North America, and LATAM. With each Challengers Cup boasting a small prize pool, there’s something for aspiring players to aim for, and by nature, they’re open events – which means anyone can qualify. The first event is scheduled to take place between January 20 – 21.

Two Challengers Open tournaments are scheduled to take place during the 2024 season. The first will run parallel to Major I of the CDL in Boston, being hosted by Boston Breach and running from January 26 – 28. There will be another Challengers Open at Major III in Toronto in May 2024. Any teams or players looking to compete in the Challengers circuit this year will need to sign up on FACEIT, the new competitive platform for Challengers following the closing down of GameBattles.

As the year unravels, three Challengers Elite seasons will take place in North America and Europe, with twelve of the best Challengers teams stepping up to prove themselves. It all culminates in the Challengers Finals, a grand event on par with the CDL that’ll see room and board being provided for the top sixteen Challengers squads in the world.

That’s the full scope for COD Challengers in 2024 – it’s a busy year but we’re just grateful that the schedule is finally available.
