FaZe Clan and Ninjas in Pyjamas have set an interesting new record early on in CS2. During the CS Asia Championships 2023, the pair set a new record for the longest LAN match in CS2. The pair were playing for a spot in the Semi-Finals of the tournament, with the loser heading down to the Quarter-Finals.
FaZe are no stranger to marathon matches, especially on Ancient, which this Upper Bracket match took place on. Just a few months back, FaZe played out a 31:28 match during the IEM Dallas 2023 Semi-Final, which sent them packing from the tournament.
This time around, it was a similar spectacle. The match between FaZe and NIP ended 28:25 in favor of FaZe, setting a new record for the longest CS2 LAN match (so far). The MR12 format means that it was a grand total of five overtimes. In real-time, it certainly felt like it might never end. The craziness of the whole situation was underlined when Twistzz gave a mid-match interview during a tech pause.
You have to feel slightly sorry for NIP. It was a solid effort, with k0nfig and REZ dropping 47 and 43 kills, respectively. They’re not the sort of numbers that should see you lose a game of Counter-Strike. The nature of the bracket means they’ve got to take on ENCE for a spot in the Semi-Finals. We’re sure they’d rather be in MOUZ’s shoes, who now face Lynn Vision for the same prize.
FaZe’s Record Breakers
FaZe have come into CS2 swinging. After a rough end to CS:GO, the team look refreshed, full of motivation, and quite frankly, better than everyone else. Their IEM Sydney 2023 win, underlined just how good they are, where they delivered the first-ever big stage 13:0 win over ENCE. Despite rumors about the team’s future, for now, we’re getting to see an iteration of FaZe Clan that we’ve not seen in a long time.
Whether the FaZe CS2 roster stays together or not, it will be interesting to see just how many records they can break in the coming months.
