Dragon Ball FighterZ has long been one of the best fighting games, with tournaments at all of the major events. In recent year, it’s showing its age a bit more though. The title’s online is still quite old fashioned and new content isn’t really coming anymore. However, for a franchise as big as Dragon Ball there’s always something in the works. A recent interview has confirmed some upcoming rplans for the franchise in the world of fighting games. We’ve got more details on the DBFZ Rollback update as well as a new game coming in the series.
Interview Discusses DBFZ Rollback Plans and Future of the Franchise
The DBFZ Rollback update has long been delayed. It was shown off a while ago but fans have been clamouring for the release to finally come. In the time since its announcement, tons of upcoming fighting games from Arc have had the feature and its left FighterZ a bit behind. We’ve gotten news about when we can expect it though. The new interview confirmed that Fighterz has passed 10 million units sold, a major milestone for both a DB game and Arc fighters.
The early part of the interview discusses character selection, including for the Xenoverse series. It’s the second part of the interview that really gets interesting for fans of fighting games though. The subject talks about the DBFZ rollback netcode. They’ve discussed that they’re aware of how anticipated the new release is. However, they’ve specified the extra work is definitely needed to make sure that the update is a high-quality addition to FighterZ.
Beyond rollback netcode, future Dragon Ball titles have been discussed. They’ve hinted that a new game is coming for 2024. This might even be the hotly anticipated DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 4. However, we’ll have to wait a little longer to find about what’s coming next.
The FighterZ rollback netcode should breathe new life into the game. Even as we’re expecting more Dragon Ball releases, it’s likely FighterZ will live on as the primary competitive fighting game for the series.
