The most important information about Season 1
Start times: When do we start?
A concrete start date for Season 1 is not yet known. However, Blizzard has already narrowed it down a bit as to when we can roughly expect it.
When does it start? Either around the middle or end of July 2023 the first season is supposed to start.
When will it be over? A Season will last for about three months, so it will end in October 2023 at the earliest.
We cannot yet guarantee exactly on which day the Season will begin. Measured against the seasons in Diablo 3, however, we expect Season 1 of Diablo 4 to kick off on a Friday. The first possible date would therefore be 14 July 2023, the latest 30 July 2023.
New features: What’s coming into play?
Since this is the first season, a few mechanics come into play here that Blizzard has still saved up. However, Blizzard has not yet revealed the details of these innovations. The following new features are planned:
The Battle Pass: The Battle Pass will be launched for the first season. This will allow you to unlock additional rewards as you accumulate favour by playing the game. There are three Battle Pass tracks in total. One free, one paid and one premium route.
New Quest Series: Each New Season also brings with it new quests that sometimes connect to the main quest and sometimes examine completely different parts of the world.
New Season Journey: The Season Journey offers several chapters consisting of different challenges. For each completed chapter there are rewards such as materials or even legendary aspects.
New items and more: In addition, the Season also brings more of the things that are already available in Diablo 4. For example, new legendary or unique items, or glyphs for your Paragon board. New boards will also be added to the board itself.
(Here you can already see some examples of what activities will be required during the season trip).
Seasonal theme: What changes?
Blizzard has talked about Seasons always introducing new concepts and ideas as well You already know this as the season theme from Diablo 3, where new features were introduced at times that mixed up the gameplay a bit. But which seasonal theme is planned for Season 1 of Diablo 4 has not yet been announced. Most likely, the theme is also always related to the main new quest line.
Participation: How do you even participate?
If you want to participate in a new season of Diablo 4, you must play through the story campaign beforehand You will not be able to create a Season Hero and complete the Season Journey before doing so. This also means that you cannot start the season with your story character. You will definitely have to create a new hero that starts with no equipment and no skill points.
However, there are also a few achievements that you take with you into each new season. For example, the Altars of Lilith that you discovered in the Open World.
What do you think of Blizzard’s season plans and what do you think about the very first season? Are you looking forward to starting again with a new character or did Diablo 4 not convince you in the long run? Would you have liked to see a completely different approach to create excitement beyond the story? Write it in the comments!
