Disguised Toast’s esports organization, DSG, announced the disbandment of its League of Legends team and Apex Legends squad at the start of last month. Meanwhile, he was seriously pushing to sign the defunct Valorant roster of team The Guard.
Two weeks in September we learned he is not going to re-sign a new LoL and Apex roster soon, and lost the bid to form a Valorant team to G2.
This does not mean DSG is out of esports yet, and he is still looking for talent and players to form teams with.
Rise and Fall
DSG’s League of Legends team was the silver lining in an otherwise challenging year for the organization. Their 3rd-place finish in the NACL 2023 Summer Season was a testament to their potential, but it seems that potential will no longer be nurtured under the DSG banner.
According to DSG, this move was premeditated. With no direct pathway from NACL to the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), staying with DSG would hinder the players’ professional growth. Now, as proven talents in the North American region, the former DSG roster is expected to find new opportunities more easily.
Meanwhile, the Apex Legends team only got 33rd overall at the ALGS Championship, but also only remained with the organization for three weeks before moving on.
On the Valorant front, Disguised Toast was among the first to push to save The Guard roster and retain their VCT spot. However, G2 Esports slapped him with their wallets and took to roster for themselves by mid September. There is still a Game Changers roster competing in Series 3 with a shot at making VCT GC Championship.
What’s Next for DSG?
Disguised Toast has assured fans that the organization will continue to participate in the NACL in 2024, albeit with a new roster. This opens doors for emerging talents to make their mark in the competitive scene.
On the Valorant front, there is not much to be done right now in signing a male roster until the off-season hopefuls all run out of teams to sign up with. Meanwhile we all hope the Game Changers roster makes a big splash starting tomorrow, (October 4th) and makes it into GC Champions 2023.
Finally, TFT might be a bring new esport where DSG looks to enter by signing some talent. He made a public call for talent throughout September and we may see his players perform in the Vegas Live event in December.
