Dota TV is the in-game feature favored among fans for spectating The International matches directly within the game client. However, during the initial days of The International 2023, it seems to have faltered under pressure. A significant number of fans reported severe lags and freezes, making spectating nearly impossible.

This was especially evident during the commencement of TI 2023’s Road to The International. Many were left disappointed when Dota TV failed to load during the initial matches. Even when it did, the experience was far from smooth with continuous lagging and freezing issues. This led to a migration of many Dota 2 enthusiasts to platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

While Twitch and YouTube are popular viewing platforms, Dota TV has its unique appeal. It offers spoiler-prevention tools, catering to fans from different time zones, allowing them to watch the tournament at their own pace. Moreover, the graphical quality on Dota TV is unparalleled, and it provides an interactive experience where players can make match predictions to earn points.

However, the recent bugs and errors in Dota TV hindered players from making these predictions during the TI 2023 matches. This is a significant setback, considering it’s one of the main attractions of watching matches in the client.

Valve is yet to make an official statement on when the client will improve or if any fixes will be implemented soon. We hope it will all get sorted before The International 2023 Opening Ceremony.
