Ed Boon, the director behind the Mortal Kombat series, has taken to Twitter this week to tease the next MK 1 Wave 2 DLC. At launch, we already know about Fighters Pass 1, a collection of characters from across past MK games and other media. However, Boon has teased the next collection of characters which might be hitting the game over the next few months.

The first round of MK 1 DLC Fighter’s Pass has had a noticeable focus on superheroes, or anti-hero superheroes. With characters like Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker all appearing. However, the next batch of MK 1 Wave 2 DLC might be taking things in a bit more of a horror direction. According to ED Boon’s Twitter, there are a few characters we might be able to see in the game in the future.

Ed Boon Teases MK 1 Wave 2 DLC

Ed Boon on Twitter has tweeted out a particularly cryptic image which seems to imply some horror icons might be the next characters to get added to the game. He tweeted an image of a number of major characters from horror movies. Include was Jason from Friday the 13th, Mike Myers, Freddie Kruger, Jason, along with other icons of horror.

Those who have already appeared in Mortal Kombat had a tick on their faces. Jason, who appeared in Mortal Kombat X, and Krueger were both ticked along other characters with past appearances character. They were surrounded by newcomers to the series, from other horror series. Those other characters instead had question marks over their faces.

Some players have taken this to essentially mean one of these characters will be coming next. The image definitely seems to be implying this is what’s coming with Mortal Kombat 1 Wave 2 DLC. Is it a set thing though?

Ed Boon has teased content in the past which turned out to be simply a wind-up! It’s possible this latest tease is a mislead or just a bit of fun he’s having with his audience. We won’t know for certain until we learn more about the second Fighter’s Pack. Although, there are quite a few characters in the first pack still to come. We can expect it to take quite a while before we discover what’s coming next. Having a number of characters from similar archetypes like Ed Boon is hinting at would fit. The first batch had most characters fit a theme too.
