Now a few years into its move to London, EGX is one of the bigger gaming events in the UK. Over the weekend attendees can try out upcoming titles, watch community-focused events, and with EGX Arena see some of the biggest competitive fighting games get exclusive tournaments. What’s going on with fighters at EGX Arena 2023? There are a couple of major games getting decent tournaments at this event.
Tekken 7 at EGX Arena
Tekken 7 is getting one of the bigger tournaments at EGX Arena 2023. This is going to be a part of a wider circuit, the Tekken UK-Ireland Championship. It’s also got a huge prize pool at £5,000, with £3,640 for the player coming in first. It’s an open tournament but we can probably expect to see some of the bigger UK-based Tekken players.
Street Fighter 6
The other major tournament coming up at EGX Arena 2023 is Street Fighter 6. One of 2023’s biggest fighting games is getting an outing for the UK here. There’s also a £5,000 prize pool. Some big players like Mister Crimson, Hurricane, and more will be attending.
Both of these tournaments will be played in the same rough format. It’s going to be Pools, followed by a final bracket. The top players from the early round go forward to a head-by-head clash in the double-elimination bracket.
Those are the two main fighting game tournaments at EGX Arena 2023. On top of that though, there are loads going on over the course of the weekend. These events will be a highlight for UK fighting games though.
