Gaimin Gladiators rolled into a spectacular first-place finish at the ESL One Berlin Major 2023. Now, ESL One recently unveiled “Unmuted,” a 38-minute feature, reminiscent of Valve’s acclaimed True Sight series, offering an intimate insight into the team’s journey.
What is Unmuted, the ESL One Documentary about the Dota 2 Berlin Major?
“Unmuted” focuses on the upper bracket finals between 9Pandas and Gaimin Gladiators, and the grand finals featuring Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators. While fans got to see all the action live, the documentary takes an intimate and behind-the-scenes look at how the teams faced off in one of the biggest Dota 2 stages at the ESL One Berlin Major 2023.
It also highlighted the rivalry between 9Pandas’ Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev and “Quinn” Callahan of Gaimin Gladiators. As the two teams faced off in the upper bracket finals, Ramzes made a sarcastic remark about playing against his “best friend” Quinn who later also explained the reason for their rivalry. Additionally, the documentary talks about the strategic pre-game draft discussions and the emotional post-game reactions, offering a raw and unfiltered look at what went down at the Berlin Major 2023.
Despite the absence of team captain Alexey “Solo” Berezin and other challenges, 9Pandas’ performance at the ESL One Berlin Major 2023 was nothing short of remarkable. With Vladimir “RodjER” Nikogosian stepping in as a stand-in, the team secured a top-three finish. Commentator Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden praised the team’s spirit and resilience, particularly given the inexperience of some members on such a grand stage.
After defeating 9Pandas, Gaimin Gladiators faced Team Liquid in the grand finals. Liquid had made it to the Grand Finals after a tremendous lower bracket run through the Berlin Major Playoffs. Their win streak made them a dangerous team, but they couldn’t replicate that against Gaimin Gladiators’ fierce domination. Gaimin eventually won the series and the tournament with a score of 3-1.
They pocketed $200,000 of the $500,000 prize pool. Team Liquid, on the other hand, walked away with $100,000.
