Evil Geniuses released its entire roster into Free Agency just days after TI12 concluded.

This decision comes in the wake of a disappointing performance at the event and compounded by a series of layoffs within the organization that cast a shadow over its esports future. The players, who were part of EG’s strategic move into the South American scene in November ’22, now face an uncertain path forward.

The departure of these players, including notable names like Pakazs, Chris Luck, Wisper, Matthew, and Panda.

All five EG players are now Free Agents looking for a host organization

The news opens up the post-TI roster shuffle to unprecedented levels, with a wealth of talent now on the market. Layoffs at EG, which affected key positions such as the global creative director and vice president of operations, signal deeper issues within the organization.

The former manager of the Dota 2 team expressed doubts about EG’s continued involvement in the Dota scene, suggesting that the acquisition of a new roster is highly unlikely given the current circumstances. This upheaval follows the recent release of beastcoast’s roster, marking a significant moment of transition for South American Dota 2.

Evil Geniuses, a longstanding participant in the Dota 2 scene since 2011 and a past champion at TI5, has yet to make an official statement regarding its future in the game. This silence leaves fans and players alike in suspense, particularly as the  organization faces a legal battle with SumaiL over contractual issues. We keenly await the outcomes and decisions that EG make in the following months as they will undoubtedly reshape the landscape of South American Dota 2.
