After tons of Counter-Strike being played over the course of the last few weeks, the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 RMR Qualifiers have come to a close. After an intense Open bracket followed by the Closed Qualifiers, many of the favorites have made it through to the RMR, which will be played out across all regions in February and March. The RMR winners will then head to Denmark for the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, the first-ever CS2 Major.
Qualified Favorites
For the most part, the big teams in the Closed Qualifiers did what was expected of them. Throughout Europe, the likes of MOUZ, Heroic, Astralis, and Spirit secured their place in February’s RMR in Bucharest. It was similarly easy for teams like NAVI, Cloud9, and Virtus.pro, with little resistance as they progressed through the Closed Qualifiers. The full team of EU teams heading to the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 RMR is as follows:
NAVI
Cloud9
Virtus.pro
SAW
BetBoom Team
9Pandas
OG
Fnatic
Ecstatic
Nexus Gaming
3DMAX
Amkal Esports
Eternal Fire
Astralis
Team Spirit
ex-Thunderflash
KOI
MOUZ
Heroic
Preasy
PERA
On the face of it, the main surprise exit is BIG, who were defeated 1:3 and crashed out early. It’s a big setback for the German team, who also missed out on the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023.
Outside of the EU Qualifier, it was a similar story. Favorites in Asia, such as The MongolZ, TYLOO, and Lynn Vision, all moved to the RMR. The Americas saw the likes of Liquid, Complexity, M80, and MIBR progress to March’s Monterrey RMR.
Underdog Qualification
While most of the favorites did progress, we still saw a few underdog qualifications worth celebrating. South American team Legacy fought their way through, giving legend coldzera the chance to appear at another Major.
EU saw the ex-Thunderflash roster progress in fifth place, with an immensely impressive 3:1 run. Notably, Danish team Preasy also overcame the odds through the Closed Qualifier Decider, giving dupreeh the chance to extend his CS Major record as the only player to attend every single Major ever.
All of the teams from the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 RMR Closed Qualifiers will be joining elite company. 12 teams were directly invited to the RMRs (pictured above) after their core’s performance in the BLAST.tv Paris Major last year, so have managed to avoid the bloodbath Qualifiers.
First up is the European RMR A, which begins on February 14th.
