The Free Fire World Series (FFWS) Global Finals, the biggest esports event for the game in a year, is returning to Brazil after five years. Notably, the first FFWS happened in Rio, Brazil, back in 2019.
At a time when Garena has announced major changes to the game’s roadmap to rejuvenate the game after an overall fall in viewers over the past two years, returning to Brazil is a good sign. The South American country has one of the biggest fan bases for the game. Furthermore, it has been a major viewership driver for Free Fire esports. Additionally, with the past two editions of the FFWS happening halfway across the globe in Thailand, the huge time difference made it tougher for viewers in Brazil to tune in.

FFWS 2024 Global Finals is happening in Brazil this November, what to expect?
The FFWS Global Finals 2024 will take place in November. The top teams from each of the regional leagues will qualify to compete in the competition.
The last time the tournament happened in Brazil, the home team Corinthians lifted the trophy. It was the first edition of the FFWS, and it achieved a peak viewership of more than 2 million, per Esports Charts. Even more impressive, the average live viewership stood at 1.2 million, showing the game’s dominance as an esports title.

Since then, the game saw a rise in viewers which was followed by an even bigger fall. Last year, the peak viewership stood at 570,000. This tournament also saw a Brazilian team take home the trophy. Magic Squad edged out Thailand’s Buriram for first place.
Currently, there is a lot of time for the FFWS 2024 Global Finals. According to the roadmap, the regional FFWS leagues in Brazil, SEA, Latin America, and MEA are set to kick off in the next few months.
Additionally, another global Free Fire esports tournament will happen at the Esports World Cup 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia next July.
