The first CS2 event has to do without the GOAT. Find out why s1mple won’t be attending IEM Sydney here

This year’s IEM Sydney is the first Counter-Strike tournament on the latest version of the game, CS2. It brings together all the well-known CS pros. However, one CS star will be missing: s1mple.

NAVI without star player s1mple

Due to a suspected entry/return issue from the EU to Australia, Natus Vincere’s team will have to settle for a substitute player for the IEM. The fear is that s1mple will be able to enter Australia, but will not be allowed to fly back to the EU.

According to sources, his EU residence papers are in fact not yet ready.

Substitute player B1ad3 steps in for him, who, since his time with Flipsid3 Tactics, is allowed to play at such a high level again for the first time. For this reason, he is also considered a “significant downgrade” by many fans of the Ukrainian team.

But until the next Major starts in March 2024, some time will pass, during which s1mple’s papers will hopefully be finished.
