Fortnite’s competitive calendar might be dominated by the Epic run FNCS, but that hasn’t stopped some side events popping up. One of the biggest of these in recent seasons has been Fortnite at Gamers8. The new tournament series launched with a huge Fortnite offering that’s only expanded for Gamers8 2023. Fortnite news might be slowing down as we hit the summer break for Epic, but there are tons of tournaments coming up, starting with this huge Gamers8 Fortnite event.

The tournament is a rare Fortnite LAN outside of the end of year blowouts, something even Epic’s own Fortnite Majors don’t manage. It’s a bit more regional but still manages to attract most of the best Fortnite players. With the prize pool hitting an eye watering 2 million this year, it’s not one to miss. For a lot of players, this event carries a bigger cash prize than even those run by Epic.

Fortnite Gamers8 2023 Format

The Fortnite tournaments at Gamers8 2023 sits alongside the DreamHack events as some of the biggest offered on the calendar. It’s a bit different to FNCS events though. For a start, this isn’t part of a wider circuit, there are no spots at any finals at stake. It’s a wholly self-contained event, with its own smaller qualifiers. The winners at the end of the three-day session walking away with everything.

What is everything though? There’s $2 million in prize money with $500,000 going to first place alone.

The big difference with the Fortnite Gamers8 events is usually that this is a Zero Build competitive game. It’s not being played in the standard Battle Royale, instead embracing the pure shooter form of the game. There’s three days of matches with 18 matches across all of them.

Thereare 30 Duos here from DreamHack qualifiers, 5 from Middle East qualifiers, and 9 wildcards that have been given an invite. The scoring system in use for Gamers8 Fortnite is pretty standard with points for elims and placement. The Gamers8 2023 event isn’t following Epic’s more recent competitive rule changes either. You won’t get extra points for claiming POIs or anything as was instituted to the main game in Chapter 4 Season 3.

Top Duos to Watch at Gamers8 2023

That’s the rough format for the Gamers8 2023 event. If you’re looking at Fortnite betting or just want to know which Duos to watch for though, there’s a few which stand out from those invited:

Setty and TayS0n

Setty and TaySon isn’t a normal Duo we’ve been seeing in Epic’s events, but they’re worth highlighting. Setty won the FNCS Invitational 2022 and came third in 2022’s Gamers8 Fortnite tournament. Tays0n has been on an even hotter run, coming second in FNCS 2023 Major 2 and first in Major 1!

Queasy and Veno

Queasy and Veno are more of a defined team recently than some others here, and they’ve had amazing finishes in recent seasons. They got 1st in last season’s FNCS and 4th the season before, that’s after coming 2nd at the 2022 Invitational. Two of the best players active right now and a clear pick for the best players at Gamers8 Fortnite 2023.

Malibuca and Th0masHD

Th0masHD and Malibuca have had a very strong run at the DreamHack tournaments lately, taking both Dallas and Summer 2023. Those are great results especially since Gamers8 has about the same format.

Anas and Pinq

Anas and Pinq are coming into Gamers8 2023 as reigning champs. These two players took first place in 2022’s Zero Builds Gamers8 Fortnite tournament, which this event is a follow up too. Since then, they haven’t exactly been killing it in the FNS, but they’ve been scooping up big finishes at loads of weirder tournaments. If you’re deciding who to watch at the Gamers8 2023 tournament based on the MrBeast Survival Challenge map, these are your go-to-s, they got 1st there.

One thing to keep in mind with the Gamers8 tournament is that Duos get a bit mixed up here! Not everyone is sticking with their current Fortnite Global Championship partner, so there’s a bit more guesswork in how they’ll fare. This event is a chance to get a rare Zero Builds crown as well as part of that giant prize pool though. There’s a lot riding on the tournament and you can catch it all over July 7-9 on the official Gamers8 stream.
