The Fortnite item shop is your first stop to get into the world of skins, crossovers, and cosmetics! This is where the new events in Fortnite have their coolest content and where you can grab outfits that help you stand out. There’s new content all the time, the Fortnite item shop today is never the same as a week ago.
If you want to make sure you don’t miss out on a great deal, you should keep an eye on the item shop Fortnite offers every day. You never quite know when one of the best Fortnite skins is going to make a comeback!
How to Access the Fortnite Item Shop
The Fortnite Item Shop is one of the easiest things in the game to access. Once you log on, there are just a few steps to get through and what in the item shop Fortnite has on offer for the day.
Open up Fortnite.
Navigate to the ‘Item Shop’ Tab on the top menu.
That’s it, just two steps! To actually buy anything in there though, you’ll need to have V-bucks. There are some ways to get free v-bucks, but with the cost of skins sometimes you might need to pick some up too.
What’s in the Item Shop?
The Fortnite Item shop today might be different from other days, but it usually has a pretty familiar format. Everything is divided into a few key categories. These are the main sections you can expect to see.
Lockers/Fortnite Icon Skins – This section is where major real-world players get to pick cosmetics or even make their own skins feature.
Themed Emotes/Skins – These are under a specific headline around a theme.
Featured – A short section that includes some random returning or new items for the Fortnite item shop.
Daily – Items only made available for a single day!
Bundles – Bundles of skins that also come with V-Bucks or bundles of skins and Battle Pass levels.
Crossovers – Content from a crossover event.
Exact selections vary but everything is grouped logically, it’s easy to find what you want. There are also sections for the Fortnite Crew and Battle Pass.
Caper and Alias Bundles
These are two new bundles added in for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4. They’re both themed around the season’s new heist theme, with outfits that are a fun take on the idea. Each outfit is coming as a Quest Pack item. That means you’re getting the skins and associated cosmetics but also quests.
These quests have players complete minor tasks, similar to daily quests, and when you pass a milestone you’ll get more cosmetics. Epic has done similar packs in the past. However, this is a rare case where you’re going to unlock more cosmetics and sprays for passing each one of the quest milestone rather than v-bucks.
Starter Pack
Each new season of Fortnite brings one new cosmetic pack which doesn’t change for the entire run time! A new starter pack is dropped with each major update. These are packs aimed at players making their first leap into the paid side of Fortnite. You can get an exclusive skin and all of the items that come with it. However, you also get quite a few V-Bucks too. For this season the Fortnite starter pack hasn’t been added yet, but according to Fortnite leaks it’s going to be Hackasaur, a robotic dinosaur!
Along with the skin, you get enough V-Bucks for the Battle Pass and you’ll have some left over too. Great if you’ve never bought a skin before, or just really want the exclusive cosmetic. These typically only last for one season, so you’ll have to decide during C4 S4 if you want this or not.
Marvel
For some reason, Epic has taken the start of the new Heist season to bring back Marvel. Pretty much all of the Marvel skins are back. There isn’t anything new, but if you’re an absolute Marvel-obsessive this is your chance to get most of the characters that have been featured in the game. Battle Pass skins haven’t made a return though, nor has that one Black Widow skin which is inexplicably one of the rarest Fortnite skins. Outside of that still unexplained vaulted skin though, everything else is back for a limited time.
Star Wars
Further into the season, we can probably expect a new batch of Star Wars skins. A new Star Wars character is the Battle Pass bonus skin, which is fun enough. However, this usually coincides with some of the older skins returning to the item shop. If there’s skins from the prequels or original trilogy you’ve wanted, once the bonus skin is released, you’ll probably have another chance to grab them in the item shop.
Anime Crossover
This one is probably going to be something new to the Fortnite item shop. Since the successful Dragon Ball crossover we’ve got a new anime crossover every season. While it isn’t in the Battle Pass this season it’s likely we get a new crossover later in the year too.
We don’t currently know what franchise Fortnite is looking at next, but surveys in recent months have suggested anime and manga like Chainsaw Man, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Spy x Family, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and more could be next. Jujutsu Kaisen appeared in the same recent survey before it become last season’s collab, so these could be hints at what’s next Although, a few of these sound a little too adult to fit into Fortnite’s normal demographic for crossovers. Epic has a long standing agreement with Shueisha for these collabs so expect a Jump franchise to be the more likely feature.
How Often Does the Fortnite Item Shop Update?
That’s what you can find in the Fortnite item shop, how often does it get new gear though? The rotating content is what makes some skins really rare, as they could not return for a long time. The item shop will reset daily, there’s a small countdown in the corner of the screen letting g you know how long you have. However, not every item resets every day.
A lot of items stick around for a week or even two. These will often have their own independent timers. For some, you might have to move quickly if you want to pick it up though.
That’s how the Fortnite item shop works. Keep an eye on it if you’re looking for something in particular. Even long-thought-lost skins like Renegade Rider can make a comeback. The latest Fortnite news always includes new crossovers and skins too!
