G2 Esports x Invictus Gaming – a path to true global presence in esports

The two organizations have officially announced the launch of their Dota 2 Team, G2.iG. This will mark the first time G2 enters the Dota 2 esports scene and having a big partner like Invictus Gaming will help it establish a stronger connection with its Chinese fan base.

The European organization has been looking to expand at a sustainable pace, despite its longstanding desire to get into Dota 2. They now have found a partner to turn that into reality. Asia has always been a key market for G2, as it began its expansion with the launch of G2’s first local Filipino team G2 Blacklist, which competes in Wild Rift. With this new team, G2 will now focus on providing more ways for Chinese fans to interact with and support G2 in maintaining the title of the most supported foreign team in the region.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for G2 as we continue our global expansion. We could not have found a better partner in iG – we can’t wait to start this alliance together and build our footprint in China,” said Alban Dechelotte, Chief Executive Officer of G2 Esports. “China has continuously been a priority market for us and we’re happy to finally field a local team for our millions of Chinese fans to support. In addition to a new market, we’re also expanding into DOTA 2 for the first time, which is a huge moment for us. Both China and DOTA have been at the forefront of our minds for a long time but until now, we haven’t found the right fit that would work in the long term. We know partnering with iG – who have a Worlds trophy and an Aegis, will enable us to build the best team and we can bring the G2 way to yet another region and a new esport. This really is the best time to be a G2 fan.”

The partnership is strengthened by the support of online sports and gaming platform M88 Mansion which will become the official betting partner of G2 Esports through its DOTA 2 and Counter Strike teams.

2024 will be the expansion year for G2

With Dota 2 in their list of rosters, G2 has now players across 9 major esports titles: Dota 2, League of Legends, VALORANT, Counter Strike, Rainbow Six, Rocket League, Wild Rift, Sim Racing, and Call of Duty. Among the 13 teams competing, 6 of 13 play outside of Europe.

Earlier this week, G2 announced a partnership to enter the US market with the ownership group behind Version1, gaining operating rights to the Minnesota Røkkr Call of Duty League™ team, and the acquisition of their star Rocket League players. Together with the VALORANT roster in VCT Americas, G2 is also expanding in the Western world.
