Soon you can once again wreak havoc as a prisoner in the mining colony! The German cult role-playing game lands on Nintendo’s hybrid console.
Let’s go hunting wild boars! With what? Well, with the Nintendo Switch of course. Because a port of the German cult role-playing game by Piranha Bytes will soon be released for the Nintendo console, including adapted controls and an optimised user interface. So the all-round carefree package?
Not quite, we also have bad news: Because the Switch port will also fix dozens of bugs that for many fans, including us in the editorial team, have simply been part of good old Gothic after all these years. No more NPC companions who keep falling off the ladder. A shame!
The switch port changes everything
In order: The Switch port of Gothic will be released on 28 September 2023 An exact price has not yet been named. And we can probably skip the rest at this point, because Gothic 1 is cult. An easy 50-hour role-playing game, lots of weapons, lots of spells, unique characters, fascinating game world – you know it, you love it.
The main thing that’s new is the controls. In the original, we couldn’t even use the mouse to look around, but on the Nintendo Switch, the controls have been completely overhauled and modernised. The interface is also said to have received a facelift. Strangely enough, there are no screenshots of the new look yet, but there is a trailer, which you can find at the top of the article.
Countless bugs go from us
Let’s move on to the bug fixes mentioned. The Switch port has already been given (a hell of a long changelog) before release, which even rivals Diablo 4’s patches. So Nintendo fans can at least hope for a clean gaming experience.
Old Gothic veterans might well shed a tear or two when they read through the list and find annoying but beloved bugs on it that should now be a thing of the past.
Are you excited about the announcement of the Gothic port for the Nintendo Switch? Will you buy it here so that you can immerse yourself in the wonderful world of the first in the series on the go? Or do you belong to the younger generation, who are bored by the visuals alone? We’re curious, so feel free to write us your opinion in the comments!
