GTA 6 could be released later than most had previously assumed. New details point to an internal postponement
Rockstar Games sent the gaming world into a frenzy last year with the unveiling of the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 and roughly hinted that the game would be released sometime in 2025.
However, a more specific date was not given. The latest adjustment to the financial forecasts of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of developer Rockstar, now suggests that the release of the highly anticipated open-world game will be a little longer than most expected.
GTA 6 will probably be released later than expected
What happened? Take-Two has revised its financial forecasts for the coming fiscal year downwards and now only expects sales of 7 billion dollars instead of the previously forecast 8 billion dollars.
This correction has led to speculation that Grand Theft Auto VI will not be released between January and March 2025, as previously assumed.
Although it isn’t an official postponementas Rockstar has never given a concrete date for early 2025, the updated financial planning suggests that a postponement of GTA 6 may have been decided internally at Rockstar.
As VGC reported, financial analysts Nick McKay and Michael Pachter believe that Grand Theft Auto 6 is unlikely to be released until after March 2025, based on Take-Two’s latest profit forecasts.
Their assessment is based on the revised financial forecast for the 2025 financial year, which runs from April this year to March 2025. In a report titled $7 Billion Means No GTA in FY:25 they suggest that GTA VI has slipped out of FY 2025:
The drop makes us almost certain that GTA 6 will not be released in the next financial year. However, we have no reason to believe that the game has slipped out of the 2025 calendar, but it is reasonable to assume that it will be released later in the year.
