Cloud9 hire Hai as their new team manager for the LoL division

After retiring from competitive play back in 2018, Hai rejoined Cloud9 as their new team manager for the LoL division. This marks his return to the organization after more than 6 years, as the former mid laner left at the start of 2017.

The announcement was first released on Cloud9’s LinkedIn page. It took a couple of hours before it started spreading across social media. Born in 1992, Hai was considered one of the best North American mid laners in the first few seasons of competitive LoL. Despite not being the most mechanical player, he was particularly known for his shotcalling and leadership. Those skills allowed him to transition over to other roles, as he played support and jungle at times during his period in Cloud9.

He used to be part of the first golden era for the organization, back when C9 were one of the top teams in the LCS, alongside TSM and other orgs. Together with players like Balls, Meteos, Sneaky, and LemonNation, the squad was able to win two LCS titles and finished in the top 8 in two out of the three Worlds appearances.

After parting ways with C9, Hai played for two more years between FlyQuest and Golden Guardians, before creating his own esports organization, Radiance, which competed in various lower-tier tournaments. Unfortunately, the company froze last year in May operations.

Considering his long competitive career and time spent with C9, Hai should have an easier time settling in. That being said, he will be immediately faced with the big task of managing the C9 roster that will be competing at Worlds in South Korea. Considering they are the #2 seed, Hai and the rest of C9 will begin their Worlds journey with the Swiss Stage on October 19.
