Arcane – Breaking down all the characters
Vi and Jinx
Vi and Jinx are the main protagonists of Arcane and the first two League of Legends champions to appear in the series. The two are not initially pictured as the champions in the MOBA game, but they are instead found in a younger version. Their real names are Violet (Vi) and Powder (Jinx) and were adopted by Vander after the two sisters lost their parents due to a tragic death.
Later in the series, Vander is kidnapped by Silco, a Zaunite drug lord and industrialist, who Vander betrayed when the two were trying to fight together and free Zaun from Piltover’s repressive rule. Despite Vi initially telling Powder to not follow her in trying to save their adoptive father, the latter ends up not following the older sister’s request and ended up killing Vander with one of her bombs. This traumatic event led to the separation of the two.
Ekko
Ekko was first seen as a young inventor working as an assistant for Benzo at a pawn shop. He is the childhood friend of both Vi and Jinx, becoming later in the series the individual that wants to free Zaun from Silco’s rule, putting everything on the line to do so. He’s the one that saw Silco and his men take Vander away and later told Vi their location.
Later, he later forms with other children a group called Firelights, with the goal of sabotaging Silco’s shipments and hoping to hinder the damage to their city. Since Jinx ends up working with Silco, Ekko sees her as a danger to Zaun that must be stopped.
Singed
Singed, also known as the Doctor, is a Zaunite alchemist known for having created the drug shimmer which Silco ships in the city. Despite his extraordinary intellect, Singed lacks compassion, using unethical and inhumane methods to make advances in his research, even if it means sacrificing his own body.
In the series, he’s known to have worked with Heimerdinger in his young life but the two ended up parting ways due to Singed’s way of working, leading him to move to Zaun.
It is likely that Singed’s development into his current sociopathic self was caused by the chemicals he injected into himself to boost his productivity, which ended up taking his more human side.
Caitlyn
Caitlyn is seen as the sheriff that keeps the city of Piltover safe from criminals. In the series, she becomes a partner with Vi, and is called by her “Cupcake”. She’s also, as her nickname suggests, very sweet. Due to her nature as a peacekeeper, she tries to trap those who break the law, including Jinx as the latter grows into a criminal in the series.
Jayce
Jayce is a scientist and innovator, and the current Head of the Council of Piltover. He is first seen when the young children led by Vi and Jinx storm into his lab in the opening episode. By working on his research, Jayce brought Piltover to even greater prosperity. But when he started getting in touch with the magic of Hextech, things started getting a lot trickier…
Viktor
Compared to his character in game, Viktor is seen as a young idealist in Arcane. Alongside Jayce, the two worked together to make progress on his Hextech invention until something happens that splits the two. And with that, Viktor started his own journey exploring the Hetxech magic, slowly turning himself into the half-human, half-machine aspect seen in League of Legends.
Heimerdinger
Despite being a small Yordle, Heimerdinger is everything but powerless. Being a natural innovator, he has been able to create some of the most powerful weapons and tools that the Piltover citizens use, becoming one of the most respected figures in the city of Piltover,
Heimerdinger is not only a scientist, but also professor, dean, and once the head of Council, helping young scholars at the Academy, hoping to guide and caution them from the potential risks of science and magic. One of them is Jayce, who was expelled from the Academy after finding out that he was still harnessing magic through science, despite Heimerdinger’s warnings.

Kindred
Just like in the lore, Kindred is split into two halves: Lamb and Wolf, the spirits representing twin essences of death as eternal hunters. Caitlyn and Vi got the special chance to see the champion in her human form, but even though it’s unclear what her intentions are, will we see more of her in the upcoming seasons? It’s not clear, but it was a nice touch by Riot to feature less human-like champions in the animated series.
Ryze
Ryze looks a lot different in Arcane compared to the looks players are used to seeing in League of Legends. He is the one who saved Jayce and his mother in one of the first episodes of the series, showcasing his power and appearing as one of the saviors of Runeterra. Even though he doesn’t get much screen time, it looks like he might have a reappearance in future acts.
Teemo
Even though Teemo is not a champion that directly appears in the series, he has been referenced directly twice. The first time we see a Teemo reference is in the presence of the Poison Puffcaps (the mushrooms) that show up next to those caged Krugs in the first episode, and the other is the image of the champion in the children’s book Silco’s goon was reading when invading Chief Police Marcus’ house.
New League of Legends champions that are likely going to be featured in Arcane season 2
Aside from the aforementioned champions, there are likely going to be new characters making their own appearance in Arcane season 2, one of them being Warwick.
Even though it hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’s almost certain that Vander, who was initially killed, will be revived as Warwick thanks to Singed and his chemicals. While we were only able to see a few shots of the Wolf’s claw, many elements are pointing to the adoptive father’s return.
