Often it doesn’t take much to awaken nostalgia. In the case of Heroes of Might and Magic 3, a city screen – recreated in Unreal Engine 5.
Once upon a time, a certain series called Heroes of Might and Magic was one of the greats of its time. The fact that this was a long time ago, however, does not mean that the feelings that many fans have for the strategy role-playing game series have died down to this day.
Accordingly, enthusiasm is being received (a post on Reddit) as well as an associated YouTube video. The star is one of iconic city screens from arguably the most popular part of the series – resurrected in Unreal Engine 5.

Heroes of Might & Magic 3 castle in the UE5
It’s just the city view, little more than an interactive screen capture for building and expanding your castle army in Heroes of Might & Magic 3. The faithful replica impresses, as it probably shows the vision in the minds of most series fans for a proper remake of the legendary third series spin-off.
Community reactions
Throughout the video and the screenshot on Reddit push the right buttons with the nostalgically inclined community. Most feel transported straight back to their childhood. They are enthusiastically applauding the work of Reddit user (ItsGigachadBabyy). And some like (Ur-shak) want to firmly convince themselves of the transformative power of their memories:
Exactly, that’s exactly how I remember it. (No, don’t show me how wrong I am)
If you still want to compare the replica – completely against Ur-shak’s wishes – with the original, just watch the following video, in which all cities are shown one after the other in their highest expansion stage, accompanied by the nice soundtrack.
What’s so special about the HoMM series?
Damalso as today Heroes of Might & Magic represents something special for many, despite the rather mediocre quality of the later parts of the series, both with the general public and the media. The mixture of role-playing with items, abilities and spells paired with turn-based strategy on two levels, spiced with a pinch of construction, is still rarely found today.
Parts 3 and 4 in particular hold a special, extra-long reserved place in the hearts of the passionate community.
And? Has the Unreal Engine 5 recreation awakened nostalgia in you too? Or do you not really know the Heroes of Might & Magic series? Would you like to see a new installment of the series or do other titles like Songs of Conquest fill this gap in the modern game shelf at least passably for you?
